Wrinkles, fine lines, uneven pigmentation, acne scars, and other imperfections can give your skin a rough texture and age your appearance. Traditional laser treatments can help address these concerns but involve a longer recovery period than most people desire. Luckily, newer laser technology can provide better results with less downtime.

What Is Halo™ Laser Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing involves the use of focused light energy (lasers) to remove the outer layers of skin that have been damaged due to environmental factors or the natural aging process. Here at The Medical Skin Clinic, we perform laser resurfacing with Halo™ by Sciton®. Halo™ is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser treatment, which means that it combines ablative (tissue removal) and non-ablative (no tissue removal) light wavelengths. The hybrid technology provides skin resurfacing as well as heating the deeper layers of the skin, which stimulates collagen production and helps tighten skin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Halo™ Treatment?

Halo™ laser resurfacing can be performed to help improve the appearance of many signs of aging or skin damage. If you want to correct any of the following aesthetic concerns, Halo™ may be a good choice for you.

  • Acne or other kinds of scars
  • Brown spots
  • Vertical wrinkles around the mouth
  • Crow’s feet or other wrinkles around the eyes
  • Sun-damaged skin

We will discuss additional details of your candidacy with you during your consultation. Halo™ laser resurfacing can be performed on the face, neck, and chest. The number of treatment sessions recommended for you will also be discussed during your appointment.

Does Halo™ Treatment Hurt?

A topical anesthetic will be applied prior to your treatment for your comfort. Halo™ also includes a cooling device that will help prevent discomfort. Most patients report a hot, prickling sensation, but this feeling should dissipate within 15 to 30 minutes after your treatment is finished. Afterward, your skin may feel tight or swollen. However, you should be able to return to your regular activities in about 24 hours.
How Long Until I See Results?
You will notice a change in your skin within two to five days, but the appearance of your skin will continue to improve as you heal. Two to three days after your session, your skin will take on a “bronzed” appearance and may feel rough over the next couple of days. As your body eliminates the dead skin cells, you will be able to see your fresh, new skin. Your complexion will be clearer and more radiant, and you will see a noticeable reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
